Birdwatchers and wildlife photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to join us as we spot the interesting birds at the world renowned birding hotspot of the Gulf Coast, High Island, TX.
Over the course of this 2 day 8 hour trip, we’ll explore the marshes and the shores of the ponds and beaches of Smith Oaks Sanctuary
& the Boy Scout Woods on the Bolivar Peninsula.
Additional locations may be added!
We will search for various species of migrating Warblers, Flycatchers, Egrets, Ducks, Kites, Hawks, Phoebes, Herons, Shorebirds, Woodpeckers, Waterfowl, Egrets, Herons, Swallows, Buntings, Storks, Wrens, Sparrows, Tanagers and Doves.
Viewing Recommendations: A zoom/telephoto lens (200 mm or more), spotting scope or binoculars are recommended for this trip.
Dress for unpredictable warm / hot coastal weather. Boots, long lightweight pants and a lightweight shirt are recommended. Bug spray is a must!
Physical Difficulty: Easy to moderate (walking on level grass, boardwalk decking, sand and dirt paths) 3– 5 miles possible per day)
Lodging: Is not included however there are multiple hotel accommodations available nearby in Beaumont TX.
