Birding Tours at Suggs Farm & Bass Lake Park

BIRD WATCHING AT BASS LAKE PARK & SUGGS FARM – Holly Springs, N.C.

Over the course of this 2-hour walking trip, we will explore the wooded trails of Bass Lake Park and the fields of Suggs Farm.

Springtime & summer migratory bird sightings are common in late March through May including various species of Warblers, Flycatchers, Great Egrets, Phoebes, American Red Starts, Towhees, Great Egrets, Green Herons, Cardinals, Swallows, Summer Tanagers, Indigo Buntings, Wrens, Sparrows, Bald Eagles and Nuthatches.

During November through March, the trip focuses on the resident and migratory ducks such as Wood Ducks, Mallards, Ruddy Ducks and more however we will be on the lookout for many species of wintertime birds including, Kingfishers, White-Throated Sparrows, Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Herons, Red-shouldered Hawks, Pine Warblers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Bald Eagles, Cormorants, Canada Geese and more.

Viewing Recommendations: A zoom/telephoto lens (200 mm or more), spotting scope or binoculars are recommended for this trip.

Physical Difficulty: Easy to moderate (walking on mulched paths) 1 – 2 miles possible)

Lodging: NOT included, there are multiple lodging accommodations available nearby in Raleigh, Holly Springs and Fuquay Varina, NC.

Transportation: NOT included, during duration of the tour.

Meetup time is 8AM sharp at the parking lot at the front of the visitors center.
