Bears & Birding Tours

Guide- Sally Siko

Tundra Swan

Birdwatchers and wildlife photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to join us as we spot the interesting birds (and maybe Black Bears!) in the OBX.

Over the course of this 4 hour walking & driving trip, we will explore the marshes and beaches of the Outer banks of North Carolina.

We’ll be on the lookout for black bears & migrating waterfowl like Gadwall, Redhead, Bufflehead, Black Scoter, Teal, Tundra Swans, Snow Geese, Widgeon, Ruddy Ducks, Ring neck Ducks, Northern Shovelers, and Pintails.

We will also be checking for various shorebirds like Ruddy Turnstones, Godwits, Plovers, Rails and Willets.

In addition, this should be a great opportunity to find Northern Harriers, Pelicans, Gulls and White Ibis.

Viewing Recommendations: A zoom/telephoto lens (200 mm or more), spotting scope or binoculars are recommended for this trip. Dress for unpredictable late autumn coastal weather. Boots, long pants and a warm lightweight jacket are recommended.

Physical Difficulty: Easy to moderate (walking on level grass, sand and dirt paths) 3– 5 miles possible)

Lodging: Is not included however there are multiple hotel accommodations available nearby in Nags Head, N.C.

Transportation: Is not included, during duration of the tour.
