I have partnered up with Pittsboro, North Carolina based company Riverside Creations NC to produce and sell a line of custom, one of a kind hand painted works of art. As you can see below, birds are a big part of this project!
The neat thing is that most of our laser engraved paintings which we have for sale in the shop are based from the photographs of the birds that my fellow birding guide (and owner of Riverside Creations NC) Isaac McShane and I have found and photographed while leading birding tours right here in North Carolina.
You may be wondering how these signs are made. Well, it starts with a slab of wood and a photo. Isaac then burns a laser engraved outline of the original photo into the wood. Then I finish it up by hand painting with acrylics over the engraved space.
By the way we also can create custom hand painted wood signs using a photo that YOU took! If you have a high quality photo that you captured of your favorite bird send it to us and we will laser the image onto wood and have it painted and delivered within a week. As a bird obsessed artist, this collaboration is a dream come true as I now finally have the opportunity to bring the three things I most enjoy doing (birding, photography & painting ) together! Plus working with lasers is super freak’n cool 😉
